Asian Centre for Endocrine Pancreas Research (ACEPR)
Welcome to the Asian Centre for Endocrine Pancreas Research (ACEPR) a pioneering research center committed to understanding the pathogenesis of Type 2 diabetes in the Indian context & Subtype Type 2 diabetes patients in order to develop precision medicine for diabetes
Under the aegis of the Asian Healthcare Foundation - AIG Hospitals
One of India’s largest and most advanced tertiary care hospitals, known for its world-class infrastructure, multidisciplinary expertise, and commitment to excellence in clinical care and research.

Why We Exist
ACEPR is a first-of-its-kind center in Asia focused exclusively on the endocrine pancreas and in Type 2 diabetes. We aim to develop early detection tools and personalized interventions through science-driven, patient-first research.
Patient-centric, translational research
World-Class Research Center
- Exclusive studies on the endocrine pancreas, a critical yet under-researched organ
- Focused on the epidemiology and biology of diabetes in Indian populations
- First-of-its-kind research model integrating clinical cohorts and multi-omics data
- Established with the vision to deliver real-world impact in diabetes care
What we do
The Asian Centre for Endocrine Pancreas Research was inaugurated in March 2024. We are an active team working on prediabetes in young individuals. Our research question is why young, lean individuals are at risk of diabetes. We screen individuals within a BMI range of 18-25 kg/m² and an age group of 18-45 years. Subjects are classified based on oral glucose tolerance tests, fasting blood sugar, and HbA1c levels. A hyperglycaemic clamp is conducted for those individuals who consent to participate in the study. Both prediabetic and normal subjects undergo a 2-hour hyperglycaemic clamp to assess β cell function. The clamp is conducted after 10- 12 hours of overnight fasting under the supervision of clinical scientists, where 25% dextrose is infused on one hand while blood is drawn from the other hand to study hormone dynamics. Hormone dynamics are evaluated to understand the complex biology of the disease process in the Indian context.
Focus on early-stage detection in pre-diabetic and metabolically vulnerable individuals
Long-term monitoring for evolving insulin response patterns
